Human Growth Hormone: Use and Abuse

-Introduction

Human growth hormones(Hgh) is a substance secreted within the body system that helps regulate growth of body parts and metabolism. These hormones are not only produced naturally in the human body but can also be synthesized in the laboratory for therapeutic purposes. Growth hormones are secreted from the pituitary gland located at the base of the brain. It helps the little baby grow up into adulthood, it helps increase body mass , decreqse body fat.

By affecting general body metabolism, growth hormones regulate the rate at which energy is produced and other substances in the body. Excess or deficit in the human growth hormone can cause serious health conditions.

Growth hormone is a 191-amino acid, single-chain polypeptide that is synthesized , stored and secreted by somatotropic cells within the lateral wings of the anterior pituitary gland. GH is a stress hormone that raises the concentration of glucose and free fatty acids. The human growth hormone having raised the concentration of free fatty acids, also mobilizes fat for metabolism to produce energy to run physiological activities.

# Use of human growth hormone.

Human growth hormones can be used for therapeutic reasons under the prescription of a certified health officer. These uses include

– growth hormone deficiency; this leads to reduction in growth in the affected individual relative to children of same age, as in short stature. These conditions are associated; chronic kidney disease, turner syndrome and prader-willi syndrome

-while in adult; growth hormone can be used to treat growth hormone deficiency, as in muscle wastin in HIV and short bowel syndrome. See more.

       # Abuse of human growth hormone

This implies the use of growth hormone without appropriate prescription and for uses other than the designated purpose. Some persons in a healthy state take this growth hormones with several intentions at heart, which include

– to build muscle mass and increase endurance in athletes

-to reverse the process of ageing

– to decrease body fat, by increasing lipolysis( mobilization of fatty acid from adipose tissues for energy production)

-some even take it with insulin which increases the effect of growth hormone but decreases body blood glucose.

   # Risk associated with Abuse of growth hormone

– short term abuse ; side effects of short term abuse of growth hormone include muscle pain, joint pain, fluid build up and swelling in the joint.

– long term abuse; the effects of long term abuse include , heart attack and the illegally administered growth hormone may contain harmful ingredients.

 Summary

Human growth hormones are very important to our growth and metabolism, deficiency of which causes stunted growth in children, lowered metabolic rate and other lethal effects. On the contrary, the side effects of excess growth hormone is also lethal to the human body.

The human growth hormone can be synthesized in the laboratory for therapeutic purposes, which helps in cases of deficiency, it could be administered by injection under the prescription of an approved health agency. Moreover, abuse of this growth hormone causes serious health problems. For more information visit: http://lifeballer.com/the-study-and-strengths-of-human-growth-hormone/

The Facts about Hormone Replacement For Men

Several of my older male patients have expressed the desire to try natural hormone replacement for men (testosterone). Perhaps you have been considering the same. Like my patients, you may have tried the more natural, gradual methods of boosting testosterone levels by diet, exercise, stress reduction, and avoidance of environmental, or, xenoestrogens.

What’s Available For Clinical Male Replacement Therapy?

If you’re ready to try testosterone replacement via injection or another doctor-prescribed method, here are your options:

Oral route (pills or cheek placement):

Most pills are not that effective and not prescribed within the United States as they can be toxic to the liver. The only pill form that is an exception to this is the testosterone undecanoate form which is absorbed by the lymphatic system, rather than the liver, but must be taken 4 times a day. However, it too is not available in the United States at this time.

Injections:

The most commonly prescribed form of male HRT. These include cypionate and Sostenon 250, et al. Usually given every 2-3 weeks, it can also be done by self-injection though you might not want to. Side effects can include pain andbleedat the site of injection, bursts of testosterone out of normal range right after injection and low levels right before a scheduled injection

. It is felt that 200 mg every 2 weeks is a good dosage to avoid the highs and lows of testosterone levels with injections. Costs are about $30 a month.

Gels:

These include AndroGel, AndroDerm, Axiron and are gel/liquid forms that are rubbed into the skin usually at bedtime. The biggest drawback of these is that of transference of hormone to another person if the gel has not completely been absorbed out of the skin before close contact with another person. Must be kept away from children and pregnant women. Axiron is applied under the arms and may help avoid the transference issue.

Patches/Transdermal:

Testosterone delivered daily via the skin through patches. Thought to without the side effects of injectable testosterone. Side effects can include reaction dermatitis to the patch itself. Also, they are costly – (up to $200 a month).

Male Hormone Replacement

The Pros:

Recent studies have shown that men who have low testosterone can benefit from replacement of testosterone as it can reduce their risks of heart disease and diabetes

  • Andropause symptoms can include weight gain – especially belly fat, high “bad” LDL cholesterol, high blood pressure, insomnia, irritability, depression, low sex drive, memory problems, to name a few.
  • In the above studies, men of ages under 57 to over 63 were treated with testosterone replacement by long-acting injection every 3 months. The results were that they fared very well.

There you have the basics of natural hormone replacement for men that can be prescribed by your doctor. As my patients know, I always recommend that they try the natural methods of boosting testosterone levels for a good amount of time and see how they feel. However, if you are like those patients who feel that their symptoms are not relieved by natural methods, and you wish to try the stronger, clinical route of natural hormone replacement for men, do contact your doctor who can address your specific testosterone issues directly
